I'm a Thriftstoreaholic

Hi everyone, my name is Chris and I'm a thriftstoreaholic ( Hi, Chris)
I just can't help myself. I'm out and about all day and I know where at least 20 different thrift stores are in this town. I'm a junky for them. This week alone I have purchased the following:
3 DVD's @ $2.50 each
1 glass tray with a bank on it (part of a weird collection that feeds my habit) $.50
An actual copy of WIndows 2000 professional (I needed it) $4.50
A keyboard throne ( for only $10!)

That is just this week alone. In the past I have purchased a knitting machine which I sold for a healthy profit and passed up a $99 Hammond organ with matching rotary cab (Doh!) I never look at clothes and always go straight for the "stuff" I have also purchased a computer bag (2 in fact), a stapler, a 3 hole punch, an amplifier, a vintage massager, an omnichord, a keyboard stand, a toner cartridge for a printer I do not own, several CD's under the premise that they might be used for sound design (a often used justification for a useless, but somehow indispensable purchase), 2 sets of speakers, a fisher price turntable, a brass bowl that sound great when "played", and 8mm projector, cameras cameras cameras, rug samples, zippered CD holders, calculators, a copier that I sold to my brother for the same price I bought it for ($50)...the list goes on and on and most of this was in the last 4-5 years. I visit a thrift store about 1-3 times a week easy, always when they are conveniently located near work sites and never for more than 10 minutes. I'm a power thrifter. But I can see a pattern developing. More and more I am buy junk just for the rush. Now, this might not be a problem if I had tons of indispensable cash laying around but the fact of the matter is, I'm a working stiff and really don't need any of this crap. I just love the rush of the "find" , the good deal. I have bought stuff just to give it friends because it was a good deal and I found it. I need help. I need a closeby TA meeting or I'm gonna start buying old VCR's and mismatched chairs ( oh yeah, I am sitting on 1 of 2 mismatched chairs I bought about 2 years ago...shit)
Surprisingly, my wife is really good about it. She doesn't seem to mind that I bring home tons of useless crap. I even bring home the occasional thing for her which only encourages me to find more stuff for her and, well, you can see how the cycle perpetuates itself.
As far as addictions go, it's not that bad but I don't think I could quit at any time. I'm really hooked. Now if only someone would get rid of an old G4 Cube...
